Lucys trip to Austria

may 19, 2012 09:25am

"Austria exceeded my expectations! I stayed in Zell am See, a resort which definitely has the wow factor- fabulous mountains and the beautiful Lake Zell.

There are lots of things to do in the area including- a relaxing ferry trip on the lake, visit to Salzburg, hire a bike, or enjoy some fabulous scenic walks.

Highlights for me included the cable car up to the Schmittenhohe mountain. The scenery from up there is just magnificent and there is a café where you can enjoy the best apple strudel you will ever taste…with vanilla sauce!
Also the local train journey from Zell am See to Werfen which takes approximately 1 hour to this small town where 1 of my favourite film ‘Where Eagles Dare’ was filmed.

I stayed in the Hotel Berner, a family run hotel in a quiet location, but very close to the nearest gondola and bus station with comfortable rooms, lovely food and excellent service.

I can honestly say that this holiday was fabulous. The hills were definitely alive with The Sound of Music! "

Colettes Report to Cancun in Mexico

april 05, 2012 12:40pm

The Royal Cancun- Cancun – 12th March 2012

I flew out to Cancun with Thomas Cook from Manchester, we paid for extra legroom seats which is a must as it’s a 10 hour direct flight from Manchester.

On arrival in Cancun we were taken by a mini van to the 5* Royal Cancun, and it was a wow factor on arrival, we had chosen the nicest hotel in Cancun. As this hotel is an “Adults Only” hotel it really made a difference.

The location is perfect, on the main strip, across the road from the hotel you have Margaritaville, The Outback Steakhouse and Bubba Gump.

If you take a left out of the hotel you will come to an amazing shopping mall. It takes around 15 minutes to get there and if you turn left this takes you into the main area of Cancun where all the nightlife is, this is around a 10 minute walk.

On check in at the hotel the butler comes and takes your luggage, when you get into your suite the view of the ocean hits you as all rooms face the ocean. The rooms have king size beds, his and her bathrooms with Moulton Brown toiletries, rain shower and a power shower. They also supply hairdryers and hair straighteners.

The Butler will also ask what type of pillows you want on your bed, want scent you would like in your room, what time you want housekeeping to do your room and what time you want your bed turned down!

You will find a 34” LCD TV (on the wall) and DVD player in your suite along with an Ipod docking station, this also charges your Iphone.

The Royal Cancun sits right on the beachfront, the sea is turquoise and the sand is powdery white, there are many Cabanas and sun loungers available, many of these are in the sea and pool so its easy to cool down after sunbathing.

The butlers come around and refill your drinks, they can also supply sun lotion and they come round and clean your sunglasses daily! There is no charge for this.

There was no shortage of food options at this hotel, we ate in Asiana which is Thai, Chinese and Japanese, you can choose from Sushi, to Curries and Terriyaki and Teppanyaki.

Terriyaki and Teppanyaki is where your very own Chef comes and cooks everything from scratch in front of you – an amazing experience but you must book this in advance.

There is also a French and Mexican Restaurant called Marie Maria, the service is excellent and food is of very high standards. Staff remember your name days later which is nice.

If you prefer buffet styles of food then head to Spice, they will cook you anything you want for breakfast, lunch or evening meal.

You can also eat next door at the Royals sister hotel, the Gran Caribe Real, they have a lovely Italian restaurant, but as the Gran Caribe Real hotel allows children they cannot eat in the Royal, only we can go in there, you use your door key card to open the gate into the Gran Caribe Real.

We didn’t venture out of our hotel much as there was so much going on day and night, from shows and dancing to water volley ball, yoga and water aerobics, tennis lessons and even test driving a Mini or BMW.

Would I stay here again?? – definitely!!

A 5* rating is just not enough!!!
